About
Athletes in every major sport train following sound, scientifically supported principles. Why should skiers and snowboarders be any different. CarveFit designs snow-sport training programs that utilize the same principles that are proven to create stronger, more agile, more powerful, better conditioned athletes.
What makes CarveFit different? Take a look around the internet. There is no shortage of training articles about skiing and snowboarding. What they all have in common is that they recommend just a few basic exercises. Only CarveFit specifically designs programs to address muscular endurance, strength, power, agility and conditioning.
What do you mean by year round training? When most people think about training for their favorite winter sport they are usually just thinking about the few weeks before the lifts start running and they take their first trip. While this “preseason” period is extremely important, optimal conditioning is a year round process. Before the ski/snowboard season you are thinking about preparing to be your best when you first hit the slopes. During the season you need to maintain your hard-earned improvements while not wearing yourself down for those days on the mountain. In the spring you need to maximize recovery from a hard winter on the slopes and prepare your body to make some major improvements over the summer. In the offseason you have the time to make major fundamental improvements in your strength, power and body composition leading you into an intense preseason conditioning program.
What is the difference between training in person or on-line as compared to just following the posted workouts? The online workouts are posted as a service to the general skiing and snowboarding community. Most workouts that are available for free online are extremely general and of very limited value. Our posted workouts are our way of supporting our fellow athletes and trying to raise the general awareness of what well designed training programs are supposed to entail. Training in person is an entirely different experience. In addition to a variety of training equipment, much of it not included in the online workouts, there is no substitute for the education and motivation an experienced trainer can provide. Workouts are also far more varied and designed specifically for the individual. We are able to create programs that are appropriate for individuals with different levels of fitness and different capabilities. A youth athlete, an adult with training experience, a novice adult and older adults all have different needs and will maximally benefit from a program designed specifically for them. We are also extremely experienced working with individuals who have suffered injuries and in need of specific programs that will progress them back to a level that will allow them to safely get back on the mountain and achieve new levels of success.
Our email based training allows for individualized programs that take into account your personal goals and training level as well as the equipment you have available and your schedule. In addition to individually designed monthly training programs it includes ongoing email and phone support.
